What is the MAT exam?

MAT exam 2021- MAT which stands for Management Aptitude Test is a standardized test first conducted in 1988 and since then being administered each year to facilitate Business Schools to screen candidates for admission to MBA/PGDM programs. In 2003, MAT got approved as a national level test by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

MAT exam eligibility criteria

Those who are planning to take the upcoming MAT exam in December must ensure they fulfill the MAT exam eligibility criteria to be able to apply.

  • Candidates should have completed their Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized Institute or University
  • Those appearing in their final year examination or awaiting results of their Bachelor's degree are also eligible to appear for the MAT exam in December.
  • Candidates should have at least 50% aggregate or equivalent CGPA in their Bachelor's degree.
  • Candidates belonging to reserved categories i.e. ST, SC, and PwD must have a minimum 45 percent aggregate or equivalent CGPA in the final result of Bachelor's degree. 
  • There is no age limit or the number of attempts for taking the exam. The latest attempt scores will be taken into account for admission.

MAT 2021 Exam: Testing Modes

AIMA conducts MAT exam 4 times a year, this year in three testing modes as under:

  • Remote Proctored Internet-Based Test (IBT): You can appear in IBT MAT from the convenience of your home.
  • Paper-Based Test (PBT): PBT MAT exam is conducted at test centers.
  • Computer Based Test (CBT): Online CBT MAT exam will be conducted at test centers in 50+ cities.

MAT Exam 2021 Application Process

The application forms of MAT 2021 for every stage are released on the official website of the AIMA-MAT website. Candidates can fill the form to appear for the exam by registering on the official website. Check the MAT application process below:

  • Log on to the AIMA MAT website
  • Click on the registration tab or click here: https://mat.aima.in/dec21/register-online
  • Enter the basic details, and password
  • Select state/UT, click on checkboxes, and submit
  • You'll receive an OTP on your registered mobile number
  • To complete the MAT registration process, verify the phone number using the OTP and log in.
  • Enter personal and academic details
  • Select exam mode, three test cities, and five institutes you wish AIMA to send your MAT score to for admission
  • Upload photo and signature in prescribed format
  • Make a payment of MAT application fee
  • Download the copy of the duly filled application form once the submission is done.

MAT 2021 Exam Registration: Documents Required

For online registration, these documents are to be made ready 

  • Scanned image of the photograph in jpg/jpeg format (10 to 50 kb)
  • Scanned image of signature in jpg/jpeg format( 5 to 20 kb)
  • Debit Card (ATM Card), Credit Card or Net Banking details
  • Valid email ID
